Cool, Anet has been pretty awesome lately. Another +1. Nice find, Inde
Though I have to say, why do some people always have to find the negative in everything? With all the crazy stuff that we hear about on the news nowadays, I would have thought that people would be delighted to hear some good news for once. Sure it might not have happened to you, but it does warm you up a bit no?

Footnote tho, I have read everything on her blog and it seems that Emily is doing well after the transplant and I am glad to hear that. I will continue to read up on her blog and wish her the very best luck in a full recovery. Our thoughts are with you.
/SIGNED I agree that the Beach should be named for her in GW2 and I also think there should be an NPC that is made to look like her somewhere nearby it.

Also, I commented the article to Regina in game, we happened to be in the same district tonight for the Mad King. Anyways, she said that Emily was very into Guild Wars and she asked a lot of good questions to the developers while she was there. She also said that it was a lot of fun for everyone.

Please people, don't try to read more into it then what it was.

Look at the reaction this got.
It would be COMPLETELY unreasonable to assume that A.Net would not be aware of the positive effect such an action will have.
This IS PR.
Still, I would absolutely approve if more PR was conducted in this fashion. I would rather see A.Net waste the millions that they will waste for magazine and online space advertising GW2 on making people's trivial wishes come true. One kind of PR benefits A.Net only and this kind of PR benefits other people also.

Am I the only one who will be looking out for those sticks?
This is a really awesome story and it warms my heart that A-net could fufill her wish.
I hope Emily gets well soon. Seems like an awesome girl to me.

I was reading the full post and came across this:
Quote:
She told them the story of how Guild Wars helped her deal with her miserable reality of heart failure and living in the hospital by being able to retreat to a fantasy world.

That's good and all, but didn't she pick a pretty sucky game to be absorbed into community wise? I mean, I can't imagine how she'd feel being abused by other players in the same way every one of us has been at some point.

Clearly she's either very good or has never played Monk, Warrior, or Assassin, the three professions who either have the most responsibility or the most stigma attached to them, often both.
Honestly, I'm just glad to hear that GW2 is in an actual playable condition.

Her characters name or something similar, because some reason you can immagine her real name getting spammed from the heartless individiuals that use the internet.
The beach should have a really relaxing thoughful name and the sticks shall be made epic! im starting to think sticks in gw2>jump

I am a supporter of the Make-A-Wish foundation here in Arizona.
I was thrilled to read about Emily's wish coming true!!
And yes, a beach named after her would be the cherry on top for Emily!!
Good works ANet...Good Works!

Exactly, except I chose to elaborate which apparently means I'm a bad person. Many people who have played gw have probably passed on. The reason none of them got this opportunity is because this girl had an organization playing politics behind her. And as said before, whether it was publicized or not, Anet knows what kind of image this is setting and its not completely altruistic. The fact that the mom basically advertised GW2 doesn't help.
We can't go around naming places just because someone is having IRL problems. The thread about the pikenite person dying was moved and closed, if I remember correctly, because it didn't sit right to cross real life and the game like that. If we were to name a place in-game after someone, it should be someone that is well-known within the community. Did anyone actually know this girl in-game a substantial length of time before the article? Perseverance does not equal worthiness.
